4. Why Didn't Tom Hanks Just Open The Parcel?
With all the best will in the world Tom, you're really stuck on a desert island, you're not going to be thinking about some random chick back home that might not get her FedEx package. It was a twee idea from director, Robert Zemeckis - the protagonist holding out against the odds to the make sure at least one parcel from the doomed flight made it to the right destination - but c'mon, lets not fool ourselves here. You're going to do anything to get off that island and if there's any chance the last remaining package could be anything to aid your rescue, you're going to open it. Zemeckis himself jokes that the mysterious package actually contained a waterproof, solar charged satellite device! I appreciate the subtle message your trying to create Hanks but I just don't buy the fact that curiosity would not get the better of you! It could have been anything - even two turtles and copious amounts of back hair... that might have helped!
