6. Who Gets Pregnant During The Apocalypse? - A Quiet Place
It's safe to say everyone was on the same page here.
In A Quiet Place a family is trying to survive after an apocalypse in which creatures that hunt by sound have wiped out most of the population. Protagonists Lee and Evelyn had lost one child to the monsters and had two other children to look after, so why on earth did they decide to have another kid?
In fairness, Lee and Evelyn had been through a horrific bereavement, but they still should've known that having another kid was basically suicide. Both a newborn baby and the process of childbirth are very loud and conceiving a child can also be... well, you know, quite noisy.
Frankly, the family's survival and the successful childbirth felt like a miracle. No doubt most will still enjoy this rock-solid horror film, but this plot hole will have to be overlooked in order to take the film seriously. It seems likely the already-beginning A Quiet Place backlash is largely driven by everyone's bewilderment regarding this implausible scenario.
