Oh, how upset so many were when Iron Man 3 revealed that the character we all believed to be The Mandarin, played by Ben Kingsley, was in fact an actor named Trevor Slattery, hired by the "real" Mandarin, Aldrich Killian, to act as a scapegoat figurehead for the media. This annoyed so many fans that a short film released the next year, All Hail the King, revealed that there was a "third" Mandarin, apparently the real leader of the Ten Rings this time. Now, it seems incredibly unlikely that we will ever see this real Mandarin given how played out the whole thing feels, but at least this puts to bed most of the controversy regarding the character's depiction, even if we sadly had an iconic baddie pretty much reduced to an inside joke.
