5. When The Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver Committed Twincest
The Offending Comics: The Ultimates 3 miniseries (2008)
In the first two Ultimates series, writer Mark Millar hinted that the Maximoff twins Wanda and Pietro (otherwise known as the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver) might have a closer relationship than your average siblings. As if that wasn’t risqué enough, when new writer Jeph Loeb took over he took that idea and ran with it.
The Ultimates 3 left readers with no uncertainty that the pair were indeed indulging in twincest on the regular. Just to add another layer of weirdness, the miniseries also revealed that Wolverine could be Wanda and Pietro’s biological father and at one point the clawed mutant watches his possible lovechildren going at it whilst hiding in some bushes. Which ups the incestuous ante considerably.
Over in the world of Marvel film, Quicksilver died a hero’s death in the MCU’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and the Scarlet Witch has yet to show up in the X-Men films so an incestuous relationship seems unlikely in either universe. And with Wolverine currently dead too, it’s hopeful that will never be subjected to him getting voyeuristic over his potential offspring’s shenanigans on the big screen either.
