10 Moments That Ruined Amazing Movie Scenes

6. M Gets "Careless" - Spectre

Has an audience ever turned against a single movie scene more swiftly than the infamous "C-word" exchange in Spectre?

Late in the film, we learn that the head of the Joint Intelligence Service, C (Andrew Scott), is actually a secret Spectre mole. He then subdues M (Ralph Fiennes) and prepares to shoot him, but not before quipping that the letter M stands for "moron."

And just at that moment, C's gun refuses to fire, at which point M replies, "And now we know what 'C' stands for," before opening his hand to reveal that he surreptitiously emptied the gun of its bullets.

It's a hilarious "gotcha!" moment and a rather cheeky one-liner for the Bond franchise's standards, given the howlingly obvious implication that M is calling C, well, a C-word.

But once again proving that brevity is the soul of wit, the gag is ruined by a subsequent line from M, where he follows up with the word "careless," instantly causing large swaths of the audience to groan in disappointment.

It's almost as though the filmmakers felt the original intent was a tad too risque and shot this additional rejoinder to cover their backs, even if they in turn ended up trampling over the funniest moment in the entire movie.
