10 More Amazing Roles Ruined By Terrible Acting

2. Sophie Turner (Jean Grey) - X-Men Franchise

Of the many extraordinary X-Men to have walked through the doors of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters over the years, there weren't many as powerful or enthralling as Jean Grey.

Boasting impressive telepathic and telekinetic abilities, this mutant not only had to learn how to control this, but also had to eventually deal with even more epic and destructive Phoenix Force powers. The iconic character is also deeply empathetic and caring, whilst also possessing a bit of a wild streak, something Famke Janssen managed to pretty much nail in that first trilogy of X-Men features.

Sadly, though, Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner wasn't quite as effective in the part, lacking any real presence as Jean, both in her standard mutant form or in full Phoenix mode during her appearances in Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. The star who ultimately shot to fame for her brilliant work as Sansa Stark also struggled to convincingly pull off an American accent throughout.

Her performance certainly improved a little in that latter mutant film, but it still lacked so much of the warmth and complexity many have come to expect from Grey, and sat at the centre of a properly disappointing second attempt to adapt the celebrated Dark Phoenix storyline.
