10 More Genius Ways Movies Fixed Their Own Mistakes
7. A Simple Insert Shot Fixed The Orientation Of Bond's Car - Diamonds Are Forever
Easily the most memorable scene in Diamonds Are Forever is the outrageous sequence in which 007 (Sean Connery) squeezes a red Mustang through a tight alleyway by riding on just two of its wheels.
However, due to much of the sequence being shot by a second-unit crew in two different locations - the entrance at Universal Studios, the exit in Las Vegas - a continuity error was created in which the car entered the alley on its right wheels only to exit on its left.
As a result, director Guy Hamilton had to quickly shoot an interior shot of the car rolling from one side to the other, explaining how it managed to exit the alley on the opposite side.
It's of course still totally ridiculous that Bond could pull off such a fanciful manoeuvre in such a narrow alley, but it's still a decent enough solution that the overwhelming majority of viewers never even noticed.
