Neil Marshall's low-budget horror flick The Descent revolves around a group of women who, while going caving, find themselves stalked by the grotesque "crawlers" that live within the cave.

While Marshall was shooting an early scene in the caves which takes place before the crawlers first show up, a crew member working on the set accidentally got his face caught on camera in the bottom-left corner of the screen, and can be seen peeking out above a rock.

On the movie's DVD commentary, Marshall confirmed that this was a gaffe, albeit one which he decided to "fix" by simply keeping it in the movie as an Easter egg before the crawlers actually arrive in earnest.

It's even been suggested that, after realising the mistake, Marshall had the crew member's face doused with white makeup to make him stick out even more on the next take, though that's never been confirmed.
