1978's I Spit on Your Grave is a horror movie that most people will only ever watch once, if at all, and it's unequivocally a film that has you rooting for some truly horrible things to happen to some truly horrible people.

From writer/director Meir Zarchi, this most infamous of pictures has Camille Keaton's Jennifer Hills as its protagonist. A New York-based budding author, Jennifer heads out into country and rents a quaint cottage where she intends to have her creativity spiked as she looks to pen her next novel.

In stomach-churning fashion, I Spit on Your Grave's first act features an intense, uncomfortable 20-minute sequence where Jennifer is sexually assaulted by four locals; Johnny, Andy, Matthew and Stanley. So gruesome and disturbing is this, it led to the movie being banned in multiple countries for several years. In a narrative sense, this act also fuelled a brutal roaring rampage of revenge by Keaton's character.

Throughout the rest of the film - after Jennifer has first apologised in church for what she is about to do - our lead kills her attackers one-by-one, with hanging, castration, disembowelment and an axe the order of the day as each of these twisted figures are put down.
