10 MORE Horror Movie Monsters You Were Completely Unprepared For
6. Deborah Logan - The Taking Of Deborah Logan
Found-footage horror The Taking of Deborah Logan sees a team of film students documenting the life of the eponymous elderly lady, who supposedly suffers from dementia. Over time, they realise Deborah isn't ill, but possessed by the spirit of a child killer, Henri Desjardins.
Though Deborah lashes out and performs supernatural acts, she's still perceived as a victim, since Henri is forcing her to behave nefariously. On top of that, it's depressing to see Henri choose, of all people, a frail elder as his vessel.
This situation is all the more creepy when Deborah's monstrous side is finally unveiled. In the third act, she kidnaps a cancer-riddled child called Cara, since Henri believes she'll be a more viable avatar. The last few moments have Deborah's daughter Sarah run into the mines, knowing her corrupted mother is hiding in there with Cara. After being cornered in a mine, Sarah is gobsmacked to see her dear old mother has disconnected her jaw and is attempting to swallow Cara's head whole like a snake.
The Taking of Deborah Logan is haunting right up until the last frame, but it's this shot that's responsible for the most sleepless nights.
