James Gunn's Slither may have initially bombed, but it's easy to see why it's developed a cult-following over the years. 

This 2006 alien invasion flick has a phenomenal cast, innovative action, astounding visuals, and brilliantly juggles horror with comedy. Although the creature effects for the extra-terrestrial slugs and the villainous Grant are top-notch, it's flirty local Brenda who steals the show.

After Grant is infected with a space parasite, he kidnaps Brenda, intending to use her to breed larvae, feeding her an exorbitant amount of animals in the hopes of keeping his young nourished.

By the time Police Chief Bill Pardy locates Brenda inside a barn, she has swelled up like an elephant-sized balloon. Brenda begs the officers to feed her a dead possum nearby, highlighting how unbearably starving she is. While the cops are trying to make sense of the situation, the thousands of larvae within Brenda hatch, causing her body to burst open.

In a way, this scene balances everything Slither represents, since Brenda's form is disgusting, ridiculous, terrifying, funny, yet tragic. Even though the underrated body-horror has plenty of memorable moments, this gross-out scene stands out the most.
