10 MORE Horror Movie Scenes You Didn’t Realise Were Tricking You
1. The Opening Scene - Triangle
On the first watch, viewers are guaranteed to misinterpret everything in Triangle's prologue. The psychological horror opens with frustrated but loving mother Jess prepping her autistic son Tommy for a boat trip. When she arrives at the harbour alone, her exhausted manner implies she decided not to bring Tommy.
With that preamble out of the way, the bulk of the plot kicks in, where Jess and her friends find themselves trapped in a timeloop while aboard a mysterious ship. When Jess returns to shore, she assumes the nightmare is over.
After making it home, Jess sees her other self readying Tommy for the boat trip, proving she's still stuck in time. When Jess watches her counterpart being physically abusive to Tommy, the audience realises they completely misconstrued her behaviour in the first scene.
But that's not all. To stop her from getting on the boat, Jess has no choice but to kill her past self. She then takes Tommy in the car, hoping to drive off in the sunset.
Tragically, Jess' car is hit by a truck, causing her son to die on impact. Acknowledging she can't escape her fate, Jess drives to the harbour, preparing to endure the timeloop again.
