10 More Horror Movies That Gave Fans EXACTLY What They Wanted (And They Hated It)

6. Munsters Fans, Be Careful What You Wish For

The Ward
Universal

Granted, not everyone was clamouring for a fresh spin on The Munsters, but a whole lot of people were eager to revisit to Herman, Lily and the rest of the family.

By the time this new Munsters arrived in 2022, it had been a decade since the failed Mockingbird Lane TV pilot, and it had been 16 years since these characters were last seen in a feature film; that being the made-for-TV Munsters' Scary Little Christmas movie from 1996.

Of course, Rob Zombie is a filmmaker who certainly splits opinion, and so him being tasked with helming this return for the legendary clan had some people extremely excited and others extremely nervous. Regardless of your thoughts on Zombie's previous output, though, his Munsters was largely rejected by any and every person who's had the chance to see it.

To his credit, the House of 1000 Corpses director had to deal with certain interference from Universal, such as his wish to deliver the film in black and white, ala the classic Munsters series, being turned down. Elsewhere though, so many of the jokes didn't land, the story was far from tight, and enjoyment of The Munsters largely relies solely on how much blind nostalgia you have for the property.
