3. The Last Voyage Of The Demeter
Hold onto your powdered wigs and feather quills, because things are about to get classical up in here.
Dracula is one of fiction's greatest villains. The most famous vampire this side of Edward Cullen burst onto the scene in Bram Stoker's legendary 1897 novel and has been since been depicted hundreds of times in movies, TV shows, video games, and on cereal boxes.
One chapter of the book is called "The Captain's Log" and details Drac taking over a ship bound for England. Apparently director André Øvredal took a page out of the "Battle of the Five Armies" book of filmmaking and decided to make a movie about just this single chapter.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter is set for an August 2023 release. Corey Hawkins, Aisling Franciosi, and Liam Cunningham are starring as passengers aboard the titular ship, which is being terrorised by veteran horror actor Javier Botet's portrayal of the Count.
It's a unique premise, that's for sure, and we'll have to wait and see if The Captain's Log has enough content to make a decent movie from. Otherwise, we'll have to stake this film through the heart and smother it in garlic.
