10 More Unexpected Transformations In Zombie Movies

Despite the fact the zombie transformations in [REC] occur slowly, they tend to happen when viewers let their guard down, leaving them blindsided. And no moment in this found-footage horror is as unexpected as Jennifer's transition. 

This little girl appears to be sick when she's introduced, which is instantly suspect. Although her mother Mari insists Jennifer merely has tonsillitis, all evidence suggests otherwise, especially after the residents in the apartment complex turn into barbaric cannibals. 

When the non-infected residents act wary around Jennifer, Mari clutches her tightly, reiterating that she's fine. As the argument becomes increasingly heated, it's easy to lose focus on the child when she turns her head away from the camera. With her face obscured, nobody is ready when she suddenly spews blood all over her mother and tries to attack the others.

Even though infected people normally look like they're at death's door just before turning into zombies, that wasn't the case here. Jennifer looked like she was a little under the weather in this scene, which is why nobody thought her transformation was seconds away.
