10 More Upcoming Movies That Are In Big Trouble
5. Rian Johnson's Star Wars Trilogy
Along with Taika Waititi's high-profile attempts to get a Star Wars movie off the ground, the recent Vanity Fair piece on Star Wars' next step as a franchise shed a bit more light on another almost-forgotten intergalactic project that has long been in development.
That being The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson's return to the galaxy far, far away with a brand spanking new trilogy, a set of films that is reportedly on the back-burner due to the creative mind being a little busy carving out his own Knives Out corner of the galaxy at Netflix.
With said announcement of Johnson's trilogy coming way back in 2017, though, and the concept itself still very much being "a matter of schedule and when it can happen,” according to the director himself, it's not hard to understand why many are sceptical over the films' chances of ever being made at all.
Should the incoming Glass Onion and its sequel hit it off in the same way the first Knives Out whodunnit did in 2019, there's every chance Johnson will find himself further immersed in Benoit Blanc mysteries for the foreseeable.
And though Rian would also note recently how "it would break my heart if I were finished, if I couldn’t get back in that sandbox at some point," his trilogy (and heart) may just become the victim of the director's own success away from the galaxy far, far away in the coming years.
