7. Pelle To Dani's Group- Midsommar
Midsommar kicks off on an exceptionally tragic note, with Dani's sister killing herself and their parents in a murder-suicide. And yet, things only get worse from there.
When Dani learns her neglectful boyfriend, Christian, is travelling to the Harga commune in Sweden with his friends, she asks to come along. Reluctantly but unwilling to argue, Christian agrees.
The group is welcomed by commune member, Pelle, who is unusually attentive to their emotional needs, especially towards Dani's grief. However, that encouragement turns to abject horror when Dani sees the Harga's brutal customs, including a ritual where elders are killed upon reaching a certain age.
Despite Pelle's friendly act, he and the rest of the Harga are outed as a dangerous cult. One by one, Dani's party are sacrificed for ritualistic purposes, save for Dani. Despite being shaken by the entire experience, Dani embraces the commune's way of life, convinced she has found inner peace.
Although Pelle appears empathetic, he lured Christian's friends to Sweden under false pretences, sacrificed them for his own needs, and brainwashed a grieving woman to his warped cause.
