If you want a movie masquerading as a panic attack, then mother! delivers the goods. Darren Aronofsky's metaphor for the bible, environmental activism, and just about any other world issue you can plaster on top of this fraught, combative narrative is a hellscape disguised as entertainment, and it all gets a bit much when Jennifer Lawrence's titular character loses track of her baby.

Now, this isn't her fault mind, she's gone to sleep and her husband has robbed the child and passed it into his violent crowd. Seemingly revering the boy before roughly passing the newborn on through a stadium wave of hands, it goes on and on as Lawrence attempts to get her child back - only to see him raised above the rough crowd, unsupported, and we're forced to helplessly watch on as his neck inadvertently snaps.

Just to really hammer this whole situation home, when she finally gets to the body of her boy after pushing her way through the masses, she finds the crowd eating him too. Zero chill on this one.
