George A. Romero's zombie series remains one of the best undead horrors ever made, as influential as it is scary, action-packed, and surprisingly poignant in both character and social commentary.
With instalment being written and directed by Romero, the Dead series creates an engrossing look of various groups during the onset on the dreaded zombie apocalypse. Romero's dedication to his characters and worldbuilding shines with every film, as does the graphic violence and iconic practical effects.
Starting with 1968's The Night of the Living Dead and improving ten years later with Dawn of the Dead, the franchise has crafted from its simple premise a large story with too many great characters and influential ideas about zombies to count.
While the first two efforts are the most respected, later instalments like Land of the Dead are asbolutely deserving of a positive re-appraisal.
Without Romero, much of the zombie media we see today wouldn't exist, and the truth is as whole it hasn't really been surpassed. Get down with the sickness and check it out.
