10 Most Creative Movie Trailers Ever Made
4. Grindhouse's Old School-Style Teaser
Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse was a trashy celebration of B-movie cinema, and so was its trailer.
The preview footage was designed to resemble something which might have played at the kind of rundown old theatre that screened movies like Death Proof and Planet Terror back in the day.
It came complete with a comically dramatic voiceover as well as emulsion scratches and bubbling celluloid to create the illusion that it was laid down on old film.
Proof that effective trailers can't save a movie alone, Grindhouse was a surprise box office bomb, making $25.4 million off a budget of $53 million, although it recouped its money once Death Proof and Planet Terror were released as standalone features.
