7. Little Nemo (7 Years)
Little Nemo was a hugely popular comic strip in the early 20th century that focused on a little boy having adventures in his own dreams. In the 1980s, an animation studio called TMS announced they were adapting the strip into an animated feature called Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland.
As soon as Hollywood got wind of this potential adaptation, everyone wanted to be a part of it. At one point or another, renowned writers and directors were involved including George Lucas, Ray Bradbury, Chuck Jones, Steven Spielberg, Brad Bird, Chris Columbus, and Hayao Miyazaki. Unfortunately, the script was such a mess, all the big names dropped out. Although production started in 1982, Little Nemo wasn't released until 1989 and didn't hit the Western world for another three years.
It was do heavily delayed, people didn't know the NES video game, Little Nemo: The Dream Master, was a tie-in for the movie since it was released over a year before Little Nemo hit theatres. Despite suffering a chaotic production and only grossing a million dollars, the film actually turned out surprisingly well.
