10 Most Disappointing Horror Movie Remakes
2. The Wicker Man (2006)
Does this really need any more introduction? Where the original Wicker Man stood as a testament to intensity, brooding discomfort, and disturbingly impressive imagery, the remake had Nic Cage sat around with a basket of bees on his head screaming for mercy from their tiny stingers. Now, I'm not disputing the pain of going full Winnie the Pooh and getting your head caught in the honey trap - but playing this rather ridiculous death sequence as straight as possible only served to make 2006's take on The Wicker Man a lasting (and pretty hilarious) joke as far as horror movies go.
We should all be glad that this remake exists on entertainment factor alone, and had it been under anything other than The Wicker Man branding then maybe it wouldn't quite be so viscerally disappointing since we'd waited since the 70s - but here we are. And here Nic Cage is. And there are the bees. It's far too late to salvage it now.
