4. Topher Grace - Venom (Spider-Man 3)

In the wake of its relative critical panning and some ill-judged sequences where Tobey Maguire does jazz moves,
Spider-Man 3 has become a sort of buzz-term for "bad, misguided sequel." And to be fair to the movie, it's nowhere near as awful as everybody makes out it is. Is it cool to hate
Spider-Man 3? If it is, I'm totally up for hating it, but otherwise, just lay off a bit, won't you? Anyway, there were a lot of things that people didn't like about Sam Raimi's third and final
Spider-Man installment. One of those things was actor Topher Grace. If I had to write up a list of actors who were totally wrong for Venom, Topher Grace wouldn't have been on my list. Because he's so
right for the part? Nope: because he's so unright for the part that it would have been disrespectful to put his name anywhere near a list. Don't get me wrong: I don't have anything against the guy in real life (because I don't know him in real life), but as Venom... as Eddie Brock... it makes no sense. He's just so... flat. And watching a half computer-generated Topher trying to act is
not a pretty sight.
