10 Most Hotly-Anticipated Historical Films Still To Be Released In 2015

3. Everest

The 1996 Mount Everest disaster saw two separate groups caught in two blizzards on attempted ascents to the summit of the world's highest peak - and a total of 15 people died trying to reach the top that season. These events gained worldwide publicity and raised serious question-marks about the rapid commercialisation of ascending the world's highest mountain - and it has also inspired the 2015 film "Everest", which is due for release in September. Shot in 3D, this historical biography action-adventure film is being directed by Baltasar Kormákur and it follows both the real-life events of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster, as well as the writings of Jon Krakauer in the non-fiction novel "Into Thin Air". Scott Fischer (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) and Rob Hall (played by Jason Clarke) lead the two separate expeditions groups up the mountain, and the journeys embarked upon and deaths that occurred in 1996 will be dramatised in the film. Also starring Keira Knightley as Rob Hall's pregnant wife, Everest has a budget of £44million ($65million) - and hopefully will highlight just how dangerous and terrifying it can be when attempting to scale this peak.
