10 Most Inconsistent Actors Working Today
5. Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage is responsible for some of the worst professional performances in cinematic history. He's also responsible for some of the best. The jury's still out on whether he's a good actor overall, but good or bad, it can't be denied all of his performances are uniquely glorious.
Cage began his career with serious, thoughtful performances and character studies that sometimes got a little bit weird. Then, at around the late 80s/early 90s mark, ol' St. Nic took an absolute nosedive off of the cliff of sanity.
"Face off," "Con Air," "Vampire's Kiss," all of these films are hallmarks in the era of Cage craziness. While it's hard to say whether these performances are good or bad (or whether they're even performances at all) they were the beginning of Cage's descent into so bad its good filmmaking, sadly culminating in the just plain bad, like "Ghost Rider" and "National Treasure."
But in recent years, Nic Cage has had something of a Renaissance. With solid performances in films like "Colour Out of Space," and "Kick-Ass," it seems we're seeing the return of properly good acting from Cage.
Then again, he's still not immune to the odd questionable performance every now and again, so watch out for any bee related pictures with his name on them.
