10 Most Insulting Movie Remakes Of All Time
1. Swept Away (2002)
You know a remake is going to be bad when the original wasn't that great either. Why would anyone want to redo a movie when it was terrible in the first place? Ok ok - it wasn't that bad, but Lina Wertmüller's 1974 Italian comedy-drama, Swept Away, was hardly the most memorable movie of all time.
Therefore, it came as a bit of a shock when British director, Guy Ritchie, announced that he was going to remake the movie as well as stick his wife, Madonna, in the leading role.
Firstly, Ritchie was mostly known for his testosterone-filled gangland action comedies, not romantic dramas and desert islands. Secondly, Madonna was well Madonna. She wasn't a particularly good actress, and it was kind of obvious that Ritchie had only cast her because she was sleeping in the same bed as him.
Nepotism at its very best.
