10 Most Insulting Movie Remakes Of All Time
2. Fame (2009)
When will producers realize that movies which rely solely on the aesthetics of the time, just won't work in a different decade?
Fame, which focusses on a bunch of American students in 80s New York City, was one of the coolest movies around upon its release. It not only spawned a number of popular trends but it also had a huge cultural impact and a killer soundtrack.
For some reason, movie producers decided to try and reenact this by remaking the same movie but this time set in 2009. Guess what? It didn't work. The Fame framework just didn't quite transition into the naughties and failed spectacularly as a result.
As expected, the movie received a lot of negative feedback, despite doing rather well at the box office. People just love a sing-song, don't they? Sorry Fame 2009, High School Musical you ain't.
