8. Blade Runner

From the opening shot of a dystopian Los Angeles, you know you're in for a magical viewing experience with Blade Runner and it doesn't disappoint. The film has become extremely famous since it's release over 30 years ago, and with good reason. It presents one interesting and thought provoking image after another. There's the towering advertisements, the Tyrell Corporation pyramid and, of course, the idea behind the replicants themselves. The idea of these robotic life forms being created that look exactly like humans is already amazing enough, but Blade Runner goes one step further by suggesting that the replicants may be more human than the film's hero, Rick Deckard, while also suggesting that Deckard himself may be a replicant. This idea keeps the film continuously interesting and provokes thought long after the credits have rolled. Was Deckard a replicant? You be the judge.
