10 Most Magical Films Ever Made

7. Nosferatu

If films are dreams, as the legendary George Melies once said, then Nosferatu is a nightmare. The director F.W. Murnau, with Nosferatu, was able to bring the first story of Dracula to the screen and completely innovate cinema itself by giving birth to horror as we now know it. That's quite an accomplishment in and of itself, but Murnau goes even further by using the style of German Expressionism to create an incredibly frightening antagonist in Count Orlok. Orlok is the film's surrogate for Dracula since the filmmakers couldn't get the right to the novel, but none of that really matters. What really matters is that Murnau gave the world of cinema one of the most magical creatures in its repertoire - the vampire. He also had to get creative when killing Orlok to avoid the copyright on Dracula, so he also gave us the first piece of art to ever show a vampire being killed by sunlight. Nosferatu is as magical as it is innovative.

My favorite movies are Before Sunrise, Pulp Fiction, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien and Her so don't be surprised to see those pop up in my writing from time to time. I'm currently in school for Journalism/English and I have an obsession with all things cinematic on the side.
