10 Most Overlooked Movies From 2014

1. Blue Ruin

Here it is, the most overlooked film of 2014. It is also undoubtedly one of the best films of the year. Blue Ruin works so well because of its simplicity. The film was funded through Kickstarter and this didn't have a lot of money for bells and whistles, instead focusing on the exceptional performance of Macon Blair (who carries the film) and building up the suspense the good, old-fashioned way. The film gained a lot of positive notices from reviewers and won some minor prizes at festivals but didn't make waves at the box-office. However, the film is finding an audience thanks to VOD and DVD/Blu-Ray. A cult classic in the making, Blue Ruin may one day sit alongside The Coen Brothers' Blood Simple as one of the great debut features. A follow-up, titled 'Green Room', is set for release in 2015. If Blue Ruin is anything to go by, it could be one of the best films of the year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYpuju1NGdA
