Pre Vizsla started out as a politician, serving as governor of the Mandalorian moon Concordia. He disliked Duchess Satine and her pacifist policies, and believed whole heartedly in Mandalore's former glory as a race of warriors. He secretly led the terrorist group Deathwatch to try and restore that warrior past. As a fighter, Pre Vizsla was certainly no slacker either, boldly taking on Obi Wan and Darth Maul. He didn't always fight cleanly, using every trick and tool at his disposal like most Mandalorians.

Vizsla is a connection to the older Mandalore, where martial ability and honour was everything, and he wasn't one to tolerate failure. Armed with all the special features of Mandalorian warriors, like flamethrowers, blasters, and jetpacks, Vizsla also adds the Darksaber to his arsenal, making him an extremely formidable opponent against lightsaber wielders. Although he might have met his end at the hands of Darth Maul, he certainly gave the would-be-Sith lord a run for his money. Even in defeat Vizsla still had honour, as he acknowledged Maul's victory and boldly accepted death as the price of failure.
