10 Most Rewatchable Movies Of The '90s

4. The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Pulp Fiction Mia Wallace Uma Thurman
Columbia Pictures

The Shawshank Redemption is one of those movies that forced the audience to take a moment to compose themselves after the end credits rolled.

We knew we'd just witnessed something truly special, but what's really impressive about Frank Darabont's opus is its ability to do this to film fans over and over. Not bad for a prison drama that's almost devoid of action or humour.

Without wading into the debate about whether it would be possible to reattached that Rita Hayworth poster from the inside, we were with Andy Dufresne in spirit as he crawled through 500 yards of human excrement, and who didn't feel an overwhelming sense of triumph when he came out clean at the other end?

We're still with Andy every step of the way after 100 viewings, and always come away wondering how Shawshank failed to win a single Oscar at the '94 Academy Awards.
