Back to the 80s with entry number six, a favourite amongst horror fans and frequent point of discussion for bonkers twists: Sleepaway Camp. As far as twists go, this movie offers up one that is sure to leave your chin on the floor.

By all appearances, Sleepaway Camp begins as a stock-standard slasher flick. A flashback to a Summer Camp (a suspiciously common occurrence in the horror genre) presents the tragedy of a father and one of his two young children getting hit and killed by a speedboat after their boat capsizes. Flashing forward to the present day, Angela (the surviving child) lives with her cousin and unnecessarily creepy Aunt.

The children are sent off to summer camp, where the withdrawn Angela is taunted, harassed, and abused by her fellow campers –complete d-bags of kids that seemingly get off on tormenting each other (but hey, that’s pre-teens for you).

Unsurprisingly, the campers and staff begin getting murdered. Suspiciously, all the victims are people who have harassed Angela. So what’s that big juicy twist, you ask? No, it’s not Mrs Voorhees this time. The culprit is meek young Angela herself, but not only that - Angela is actually Pete, her twin brother, having been made to dress up like a girl ever since the death of the real twin all those years ago.
