10 Most Ridiculous Weapons Used In Action Movies
2. Bowler Hat Of Death - Goldfinger
Goldfinger already has a lot going for it by having little to nothing to do with the abysmal original novel, much like the other Bond movies, but then they went the extra step by making Oddjob have one of the most amazingly silly weapons of all time: the bladed bowler hat.
This thing is an onion of making no sense: the more you think about it, the less sense it makes. Wanting a bladed weapon that you could carry around in plain sight is one thing, but of all the places to hide it IN that plain sight, why make it the brim of a bowler hat? If Harold Sakata wasn't one of the most shockingly effective screen presences in the entire movie who makes it goddamn work, this alone would have made Oddjob one of the original sources of geek mockery.
Even if it's reinforced with the metal used to make the blade, bowler hats aren't exactly the most aerodynamically designed fashion choices available. One can only imagine the pythons Oddjob must be packing in order to be able to throw this hat with the force needed to actually get the blades on this hat to piece flesh, let alone the stone we first see it split.
A memorable weapon to be sure, but one that boggles the mind to this day.
