10 Most Shamefully Lazy Plot Resolutions In Movie History

6. Khan's Magical Blood To The Rescue - Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

Paramount

1982's Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan pitted the crew of the starship Enterprise against its greatest adversary: the diabolical Khan Singh. During the film's climactic space battle the Enterprise's warp core is damaged, forcing Vulcan science officer Spock give his life to save the ship. A grief stricken Captain Kirk gives a heartfelt goodbye to his longtime friend in one of the most emotionally devastating moments in the franchise.

J.J. Abram's 2013 sequel to his wildly successful Star Trek reboot, Star Trek Into Darkness, lifted this iconic scene for its climax but put a fresh spin on it: instead of Spock, Kirk sacrifices himself to save his ship. The original film series waited until the sequel Star Trek III: The Search For Spock to resurrect the pointy-eared fan favourite but apparently Abrams and co wanted to save some time by bringing Kirk back before the credits roll.

Unfortunately, the way they chose to do so comes across as one of the laziest plot resolutions in recent memory. It turns out that Khan€™'s blood has the ability to bring people back from the dead, somehow. When the Enterprise discovers this poorly explained phenomena, Spock promptly punches Khan out and the crew gives Kirk an infusion of the miracle serum. In the quickest resurrection scene in film history, Kirk wakes up in a hospital bed, alive and ready to get back in the captain'€™s chair for Star Trek III.
