All the Boys Love Mandy Lane is a picture that had so much hype surrounding it at one point in time, largely down to just how tricky is was to actually track this Jonathan Levine-helmed effort down.

Having premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2006, the distribution of the movie was hit by plentiful stumbling blocks, meaning the film was slowly drip fed through different markets until becoming widely available in 2013.

At the centre of All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, of course, is Amber Heard's titular Mandy. Depicted as the beautiful, smart, wholesome, all-American gal who all the high school boys would die for, Miss Lane ends up in the centre of chaos when she and her pals find their weekend at a remote ranch terrorised by a crazed killer.

Before we get to the carnage of the picture, mind, there's a swimming pool-set moment that isn't necessarily one filled with unnerving dread and tension, but one that's well worthy of inclusion here for the sheer jarring nature of it.

After Adam Powell's Dylan convinces Mandy to attend his pool party, things go spectacularly sour for Lane's would-be suitor. So desperate to impress Mandy, a wasted Dylan attempts to jump from his roof into the pool below - only he misses the pool, hits his head on the surrounding concrete and dies.
