10. Spirit The Spirit
Why Youre Supposed to Like Him: Hes the ghost-like defender of a crime and corruption ridden city, whose sole mission is to protect the innocent for harm. Sound familiar? Youre supposed to like The Spirit for the same reason you like Batman hes a symbol of justice for a city that most needs it. Its a romantic idea, and its worked well on more than one occasion, but not here unfortunately.
Why Hes Annoying: The problem is, the ironically named The Spirit is absolutely bereft of just that; of spirit, of soul, of emotional resonance. Despite being written and directed by bona-fide comic book legend Frank Miller, its clear that his talents translate better on the page. Gabriel Machts attempt at The Spirit is flat, excruciatingly boring at times and over-acted? Youd find less ham in a delicatessen.
