10 Most Unintentionally Hilarious Horror Movies

1. Troll 2

Robo Vampire
Epic Productions

Where to begin with Troll 2? It’s a sequel that has no connection to the original film. It doesn’t feature a single troll (it’s about murderous vegetarian goblins, naturally). It’s populated by some of the least qualified actors in the history of cinema. It beggars belief that this film got made, but we should rejoice that it did.

Troll 2 sees a city slicking family engage in a month-long rural house swap, in the first of many bizarre notions. There they discover that the town of Nilbog is not all that it seems. The friendly locals are in fact evil little goblins, dead set on killing the outsiders, or eating them, or turning them into plants, depending on the scene.

Italian director Claudio Fragasso subsequently insisted that the film was intended as a comedy after it received a panning so savage it could only turn into a cult classic, but it’s hard to imagine something could purposefully be this hilariously bad. Everything, from the effects to the acting to the twist ending, is perfectly, insanely inept.

For further viewing, see Best Worst Movie, a documentary made by Troll 2’s child star. It’s an eye opener.
