3. Robo Vampire
At long last, Robo Vampire answers one of life’s key questions: what would happen if a violent drug organisation were to develop a race of super vampires to do battle with law enforcement? And further to this, what if one of the law enforcement officers were to die in the line of duty and be brought back as an android - or “robotic cop”, if you will.
Robo Vampire seems to be the result of mashing several films together haphazardly and calling it an original creation. This literally appears to be the case at points, as a traditional cops and criminals story lurches into a less traditional vampires and robots angle.
A low budget can be the mother of invention, particularly in horror filmmaking, but that is most assuredly not the case here. Neither ‘bots nor vamps convince on the screen, and the messy integration of the two plots does nothing to improve this.
Perhaps most annoyingly, the title of the film is inaccurate. It’s not about a Robo Vampire, it’s about a robot doing battle with a vampire. Manage your expectations accordingly.
