10 Movie Actors About To Play Totally Against Type

7. Kristen Wiig As A Supervillain - Wonder Woman 1984

Like Magnussen, Kristen Wiig is best associated with comedy movies, though she's also proven herself a standout dramatic performer in movies like The Skeleton Twins, The Martian and Welcome to Me.

But Wiig will tackle an all new challenge with her role in the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984: she'll not only appear in a superhero movie, but she'll play the villain.

Wiig almost always plays the disarmingly charming lead in her movies, and outside of her role in Zoolander 2, she's played few outright antagonists in her career to date.

But in WW84, she'll play British archeologist Barbara Ann Minerva, who eventually becomes primary antagonist Cheetah and will presumably come to blows with Diana (Gal Gadot).

It's the sort of role that, on paper, sounds like it'd go to a more statuesque Charlize Theron or Uma Thurman-type, but Wiig undeniably has a ton of range, and hopefully the part is fleshed-out enough to unveil yet another facet of her well-rounded acting chops.
