10 Movie Cameos That Left Us All Speechless

2. Bill Murray - Zombieland

You won't find many cameos more unexpected than that of Bill Murray in Zombieland.

The famously tough-to-reach actor appears for a few minutes in the middle of the zom-com, playing a not-so-fictionalised version of himself who dons zombie makeup in order to blend in with the undead horde.

After hanging out with Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) and Wichita (Emma Stone) for a while, Murray's ruse spectacularly - and hilariously - backfires when he sneaks up on Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) who, believing him to be a zombie, shoots him.

In a howlingly self-deprecating death scene, Murray expresses regret for lending his voice to Garfield and then slowly expires.

Better yet, the bulk of the scene was largely improvised, with Murray serving as a last-minute replacement after Patrick Swayze was too ill to shoot the scene and his first replacement dropped out late in the game.

Though not nearly as fresh, Murray did return for another surprise cameo in sequel Zombieland: Double Tap, appearing again as himself as he witnesses the beginning of the zombie outbreak while promoting Garfield 3 and has to fight his way out of the building.
