10 Movie Cameos That Left Us All Speechless
3. J.K. Simmons - Spider-Man: Far From Home
And we now segue perfectly into one of Stan Lee's finest creations, courtesy of the MCU's most recently released film, Spider-Man: Far From Home.
As much as Kevin Feige and co. have proven time and time again that they know how to deploy fan service, nobody was prepared for the sheer visceral excitement of J. Jonah Jameson's (J.K. Simmons) surprise cameo in Far From Home's mid-credits scene.
After doctored footage is broadcast framing Spider-Man (Tom Holland) for the London drone attack and Mysterio's (Jake Gyllenhaal) death, it's revealed the video came from The Daily Bugle, with host Jameson immediately denouncing Spidey while praising Mysterio as the greatest superhero of all time.
For fans who had long been clamouring for Simmons' Jameson to join the MCU after being one of the easy highlights of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films, this truly was a dream come true, yet one which many assumed would never happen due to all the legal red tape.
If Simmons does indeed return for the upcoming third Spider-Man film, hopefully it'll take full advantage of its rumoured Spider-Verse plot to feature both the MCU and Raimi versions of the character as played by Simmons.
