10 Movie Dystopias To Make You Feel Better About The Current Political Hellscape

1. Soylent Green

This is what happens when you defund the EPA - you run out of sustainable food sources and end up having to (spoiler alert) eat people. Don't say Al Gore didn't warn you. But no, you're right, climate change is a hoax.

Basically this is a future society where food is increasingly scarce, and most people are forced to survive off of a man-made food substitute called soylent, that claims to have all the nutritional benefits that people need. There are different types of soylent marked with different colors, but at the point in time that the film takes place, soylent green is the hot new thing.

It's supposedly made out of high energy plankton, which makes it more nutritious and better tasting than the soylent products that came before it. Only one problem: as Charlton Heston famously informs us, soylent green is people.

So, like, say what you will about the current state of the world, at least you're not being suspiciously murdered and ground into food.
