10 Movie Franchises Where The Villain Became A Hero

8. Boyka - Undisputed III: Redemption

Undisputed is an odd series. The original was a theatrical release about a disgraced boxer sent to prison and forced into a boxing match. The DTV sequel followed the villain of that story, only now he was the protagonist. He goes up against a vicious Russian fighter named Boyka, and eventually kicks his ass and gains his freedom.

It was only natural to follow Boyka for the next one, while he tries to gain redemption for his past deeds. The character was the breakout star of the series – thanks to actor Scott Adkins – and despite being quite grim and self-serious, you root for him to succeed anyway.

It helps that Undisputed III has the best fight scenes of the franchise, and his eventual victory is well earned. The series will be breaking with formula for the next instalment, with Boyka remaining the lead character due to his popularity.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
