10 Movie Heroes That Really Suck At Saving People

10. Gabe Lets Sarah Slip Through His Fingers - Cliffhanger (1993)

Optimum Home ReleasingOptimum Home ReleasingTypically, when Sylvester Stallone portrays a hero that hero always gets the job done. We start our list with one glaring exception to this rule: intrepid mountaineer Gabe Walker. Gabe is a rescue ranger who isn€™t too great at the rescue part. Unlike Rambo, the innocent might not feel so safe when he shows up to take care of business. In Cliffhanger, Gabe stumbles right out of the gate. Two of Gabe€™s close friends find themselves stranded on a perilous mountain peak, which should be a routine rescue for the mountain ranger. Gabe choppers in and has the duo cross from the mountain to the chopper using a steel line suspended above a huge chasm. Murphy€™s law kicks in; one of climber€™s harnesses break, leaving her holding on for dear life. Gabe springs into action and fails miserably. The poor climber literally slips right through Gabe€™s fingers, falling to her death while her boyfriend watches on in horror. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOW1rhZCTmg Unfortunately for Gabe, saving people is a pass/fail assignment; there€™s no grading curve. Gabe gets a big fat €˜F€™ almost as soon as the opening credits finish. His glaring inability to fulfil his duties as a rescue ranger earns him the first spot on our list.
