10 Movie Heroes That Really Suck At Saving People

9. Superman Levels Metropolis - Man Of Steel (2013)

Warner Bros. PicturesWarner Bros. PicturesHumanity asks a lot of Superman. We expect him to fly in, take care of business, and do so with a minimum of collateral damage; that€™s not the easiest of tasks when he has to throw down with other super powered beings. 2013€™s superman movie, Man of Steel, showed audiences how Superman got his start in the saving humanity business. Apparently, there€™s a huge learning curve. Superman starts out strong, saving the world from a €˜world engine€™ device that threatens to destroy all of humanity: so far so good. However, in the climax of the movie, Supes begins to make some rookie mistakes that cost a lot of innocent lives. An evil Kryptonian, General Zod, takes offense to Superman busting up his €˜world engine€™ and the duo duke it out in the middle of downtown Metropolis. Instead of taking the fight to the sky, or, flying off to a less-populated area, Superman opts to keep the fight in middle of the city. This extremely ill-advised decision leaves Metropolis a wasteland, costing millions in property damage and killing thousands of innocent bystanders. Superman€™s snafu doesn€™t rank higher on our list because he does save the world in the end. Hopefully, the Man of Steel will tweak his life-saving skills before the upcoming sequel, Superman vs. Batman: Dawn of Justice.
