Even those who are the most passionate about, and devoted to, J.K. Rowling's world of Harry Potter can't argue the story doesn't have its fair share of plot holes and unanswered questions. And they aren't just limited to the Boy Who Lived only seeing Thestrals after Cedric's death and not his own mother's.

The author has taken to social media to explain away some of these inconsistencies and loose threads, and though the answer hasn't always been the most convincing, at least there has been an answer. It seems however, that when asked a particular question about the Resurrection Stone, Rowling put in a personal low effort.

The Stone - one-third of the famed Deathly Hallows - was almost forgotten about. It's assumed that Harry kept the invisibility cloak at the end of the story, and in the books he returned the Elder Wand to Dumbledore's grave, while he snapped it in half in the movie. But what of the stone?

For such an important piece of HP lore, it seems that its whereabouts would be something of extreme importance, but when Rowling was asked the question, she simply said she imagined that it was trodden into the ground by a centaur in the Forbidden Forest on their way to the Battle of Hogwarts.

That feels like a poor answer, and honestly something J.K Rowling may have just made up on the spot.
