10 Movie Poster Clichés We're All Tired Of

5. Women Looking Backwards

WomanfrombehindUsed For: Pretty much any film with a woman in it. This poster is widely used in an array of genres, showing a female character facing away, looking over her shoulder at the viewer. The reason behind a design like this is simple: sex sells. It's sad, but true. The women are showing their butts, and giving the audience a seductive, inviting glance over her shoulder. They also are often holding weapons (or are implied as dangerous), giving them a femme fatale type of feel and therefore adding more mystery to their sex appeal. It's a simple image that immediately grabs the attention of a key demographic: men.
