10 Movie Promotional Publicity Stunts You Won't Believe

5. What Would You When Faced With Murder? - Dead Man Down (2013)

Dead Man Down 11 Dead Man Down is an American neo-noir crime thriller starring Colin Farrell, who plays a gangland face who is making his way up the ranks to become the right hand man to a crime lord. He is seduced by a woman from the apartment opposite his own who, despite seeming to be something of a naive girl-child, is seeking her own retribution. Although the exact budget for the film is unknown, it grossed $18,074,539 and was a definitive box office bomb, widely trashed and receiving only 38% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is more than fair, as despite attracting a decent cast with Naomi Rapace alongside Farrell, the film is bland and mired in clichés from the gangster genre. A truly awful title, too. In fact, the publicity stunt that the producers came up with is probably the best thing about the film. The producers decided to go viral with their promotion for the film, staging an attempted murder in an elevator and filming the reactions of unsuspecting New Yorkers. The premise was for the elevator doors to open, revealing two men grappling, one on top of the another attempting to strangle him. The promotion is the brainchild for viral ad company Thinkmodo, who more than earned their paycheck. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97Fcp8slshY&feature=youtu.be
