10 Movie Remakes/Reboots We Actually Want To See

7. Misery

Here’s another film that would work because of the new context it would be released in. The original Misery is about an obsessive fan who rescues her favourite author from a car crash and helps nurse him back to health while starting to put pressure on the author to revive her favourite dead character in his new book. Kathy Bates’ performance was legendary, and even got her an Oscar.

In today’s world, the obsessive superfan has even more power to it. The internet creates echo chambers that disturbed individuals use to deepen their twisted beliefs, and this could be the perfect setup for a new Misery-like story. Imagine if the author was George R. R. Martin? The Game of Thrones fandom isn’t known for its rabid fanbase, but it’s no lie that it would be an effective warning against obsession. With the popularity of Stephen King remakes after It and the upcoming Pet Sematary, it might only be a matter of time before Misery returns to our screens.

Ben Trangmar hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
